Christmas Art Show 2008 was
held November 27 to January 20, 2009
at the West Plains Senior Center.

Sketching and painting classes will be held at the West Plains Senior Center Tuesday April 21 and 28,
1 to 4-PM. All are welcome.

West Plains Artist Guild meets every 3rd Tuesday, monthly. Meeting dates are announced in the West Plains Daily Quill. "Our goal is to learn about and to promote fine arts in our commuity." All are welcome to attend our meetings and activities.




Meeting dates, projects, and activities:


April 21, Make "New Art From Old" How? by using old watercolor or acrylic compositions on paper. Make shapes on the backs of scrap paintings, random sizes and shapes, cut or tear pieces to be glued with gel medium or Elmer's Glue onto another paper or illustration board to form a new composition.

On this meeting date bring a copy of a photo, glue, and your choice of paint and we will paint past the photo to create a montage.


May 19, paint spring flowers any medium. Election of guild officers.


June 16, "Annual Business meeting of the board of directors and picnic.


July 21, WPAG hosts fine arts and photography at Heart of the Ozarks Fair north Highway 63. Annual trip to Springfield Art Museum to view Watercolor USA, dine out, and shop at art stores as Michaels, Hobby Lobby, and National Art Shop.


August 18, create a composition in collage. Collage workshop.


September 15, Perspective workshop, review the drawing and painting of buildings.


October 20, Make and trade "Artist Trading Cards." "ATC's."


November 17, Thanksgiving dinner at Ryan's, 11-AM.


December 15, Christmas Dinner at Ryan's, 11-AM, exchange handmade card and a gift.

Art in the Community

WPAG exhibits artwork at the West Plains Visitor Center monthly. Artwork by members may be viewed at Ryan's Steakhouse, Preacher Roe Blvd. and at The River of Life Farm Dora, MO. Paintings are exhibited at the West Plains Senior Citizen's Center, also.











































































































The West Plains Artist Guild was founded in 1963 by Roy Hathcock art teacher at West Plains High School and Southwest Missouri State University, now called Missouri State. The Gallery at the Harlin Museum is now called the Hathcock Gallery in memory of his passing in 2005. Roy Hathcock artist and writer wrote about Indian Relics and one of his collections can be viewed downstairs from the gallery in the history department. Some of his paintings may be viewed in the Howell County Courthouse on the Court Square, West Plains, MO.



































WPAG is an educational organization with the goal to inspire and promote the fine arts in the Ozarks.
